Good day St. Peter the Apostle families:
As many of you know, the Government of Alberta announced a return to in person learning for the 2020-2021 school year. Last week our school division released their Evergreen Re-Entry Plan outlining procedures to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19. Today we share with you our more specific Re-Entry Plan for St. Peter the Apostle in hopes it answers some of the questions you may have. Some important points to take special note include:
- Government of Alberta mask mandate for all students and staff
- Move to a quarter system rather than semesters. Start time (8:35 am), end time (3:00pm) and lunch hour (11:25-12:05) remain unchanged.
- Students have an At Home or At School option with re-entry points at the end of each quarter
Later this week you will receive an email asking you to indicate your intention for learning (At Home OR At School) for you child(ren). It is our hope this document will assist you with your decision. Many students and parents are requesting access to student timetables. We are unable to share those with you at this time as we are still going through them to ensure all prerequisites are being met. The number of families who choose a At Home learning environment may also have an impact. Timetables will be available through ConnectEd for students to view when they are completed in the last week of August. We will send a confirmation email to families once they are ready. Grade 12 students will have the highest priority for timetable changes during the first week of school. Although it will have a different look, we will continue the tradition of a staggered entry for students:
Monday, August 31: Grade 9 & 12 students start. All students head straight to their block one class.
Tuesday, September 1: Grade 10 & 11 students start. All students head straight to their block one class.
The staff of St. Peter the Apostle are very much looking forward to having students back at school. Our custodial staff has worked very hard over the summer to ensure the school is a clean and safe place for all of us to return to. We appreciate the support we have had from our school community as we make our way into the new school year.
